The DNA isolation laboratory is equipped with the state of the art Gentra Autopure LS DNA isolation system. This system allows the DNA isolation laboratory to offer automated DNA isolation from blood (1-10mls), tissue and buccal wash samples. The system allows greater yield and uniformity in the processing of samples as well as a decrease in turnaround time so that investigators are able to use their samples more quickly. With the AutoPure LS, the DNA isolation facility can isolate DNA from 160 individual blood samples per day. DNA samples can be returned to the investigator as precipitated samples, or resuspended in Tris-EDTA buffer. This system also allows us to return higher quality samples at a lower cost than if the samples were isolated by hand.
