DNA Isolation

General Information

The Applied Genomics Technology Center (AGTC) has vast experience with genomic DNA isolation from a variety of sample sources including whole blood, blood clots, dried bloodspots, buffy coats, saliva, mouthwashes, cultured cells, fresh/frozen tissues, and paraffin-embedded tissues. The DNA Isolation Lab is equipped with two state-of-the-art, automated, isolation systems: The AutoPure LS®, an alcohol precipitation-based method, and the EZ1® Advanced, a magnetic bead-based method. Having both methodologies available to investigators allows for successful genomic DNA isolation from even the most challenging of starting materials. In addition, automated systems allow greater yield and uniformity as well as a decrease in turnaround time.

Future Services

We have just recently purchased the required software for the purification of DNA from buccal swabs on the EZ1® Advanced.  We are hoping to have this available as service in the near future.

Additional Information

If needed, please contact Tara Reinholz for further information regarding DNA isolation on the EZ1® Advanced.

If needed, please contact Danijela Popadic for further information regarding DNA isolation on the AutoPure LS®.
